Kara recognizes the staffing challenges across all city departments. With Oakland’s budget already facing cuts, we must ensure that taxpayer dollars are used effectively to prevent crime and keep our communities safe. Kara believes part of our budgeting process requires greater transparency, accountability, and strong oversight over police overtime to ensure that resources are allocated efficiently and effectively.
